My fellow inmates were murderers, rapists, kidnappers, armed bank robbers, and large scale drug offenders.

After 3 years 'behind the wall,' I became somewhat of a 'counselor.'  A guy others came to for advice, help with writing a letter, or as a mediator of  'trouble among prisoners.' 
Those guys were like a bunch of little kids.  Show interest in them, talk with them about their problems, share what kept me sane in that environment, and they became the best friends a person could ask for. 

Compassion is a lot more than just a word. 

One lad had taken a female hostage during a bank robbery.  To complete his escape, he killed the lady.  He was 18 years old when he had done this.  When I spoke with him, he was then 37.  He had been in that prison for over 18 years.  He was filled with remorse.

I befriended the only mass murderer in the prison where I was held.  He had been convicted of killing 27 people.  He was a heroin dealer. A 'bad batch' killed his customers.  His regret was that he had not been a user.  If he had been, his victims would still be alive.  Again, this man showed huge sorrow for his past.

Other guys I met convicted of murders--the victims meant nothing to them.  Those guys were an entirely different breed.  I came to think of them as being born with a 'gene of danger.'  What else could it be?  There was no way this was 'learned behavior.'
 
I met those folks during my stay in Federal Prison.  I was not a desperado.  I'm as harmless as a Beagle puppy.  But, never doubt that there are some very bad folks moving among us.

I have been getting the calendar for over 15 years, mostly as a planting and moon phase guide. I was disappointed in the artwork this year. It was so grayed and dark. Also the symbols associated with each astrological sign were so limited. II didn't even find the astrological symbol for Pisces, nor were there the fish swimming in different directions. It used to be that the artwork reflected the energy of their sign. Taurus: Spring, Vibrant Earth mother, and earth energy. Hard working, yet ruled by Venus. This year painted In sick muted colors of green. The symbol was obvious though. I suppose the two giant twisted horns that couldn't be on a bull anatomically, represented it. Scorpio has three totems, The scorpion, the eagle and the Phoenix. It is very important that all three be recognized, because it reflects the evolution of the sign, and the journey that all souls will make at some point. I could go on. Can't put it on the wall this year.

I have purchased the Llewellyn Astrological Calendar every year since 1972. As a gardener, I use it to plant by the moon sign as well as plan health treatments, etc. I find it an invaluable resource and the illustrations are always beautiful so it is a piece of art hanging by my back door.

Have been buying this calendar every year for the past dozen years or so. It always features beautiful artwork, along with enought space to write appointments, etc. If you like astrology, this is the best calendar on the market.

The illustrations are just to bleak, especially for the times we live in currently. I've taken to covering them up, February's is just horrid! The moon phases and all info can be accessed via internet, but I enjoy a good calendar. Sorry I bought it, it's a waste of $$.

I really like this calendar because it provides daily planet transits as well as good information on the planets, houses and so on, even to good days for planting. Some of the month's pictures are marvelous with wonderful detail, and some I didn't like because they feel dark - I cover those up. I wish there were a bit more room to write appointments in the calendar, but I wouldn't want to give up planet transit information, so I guess it's still good - and more meaningful than a calendar with just pictures.

I love Llewelyn's Astrological calendar, I buy one every year. I bought 3 this year, 2 to give as Christmas gifts. The shipping was flawless. However, I've opened my calendar and noticed that after August, it repeats June, July, and August again. There's no September, October, November, or December... I know there's probably no way for the seller to have realized this. It seems to be a manufacturing flaw. But the worst part is that I don't know if the two wrapped calendars under my Christmas tree are flawed as well. Can anyone tell me who I should actually contact about this?

I have purchase Llewellyn's Calendars since 1985 and I love everything about it. I have kept every calendar since then for reference. The illustrations are beautiful and all the information contained within is like reading a book. It has information that is easy to follow for beginners and advance astrologers who want to keep a quick eye on the stars and planets.

What a beautiful, motivating and cosmic calendar. Have ordered several as gifts for Leo's and my Scorpio self. I'm sure I will buy more for my friends as holiday gifts.

About the Author

Anne Frances Cronin has practiced occupational therapy with children and families for more than 30 years. She received her bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from the University of Missouri and a doctorate in Medical Sociology from the University of Florida. Currently, Anne is an Associate Professor at West Virginia University and involved in inter-professional teaching involving students from occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech language pathology. Anne has also been involved in professional occupational therapy activities at state, national, and international levels. Anne's initial work in occupational therapy was with adolescents and adults with severe developmental disabilities. It was this work that led to her passion in supporting a life course viewpoint in clinical reasoning. Anne has worked at in-patient, outpatient, and public school settings providing occupational therapy interventions to children and youth. In recent years Anne's clinical focus has been in the area of behavioral medicine with research interests in the areas of cognitive rehabilitation, autism interventions, and support for self-regulation for children with behavioral challenges. In this text, Anne has sought to offer a broad occupation-based viewpoint of life-course development with careful attention to the factors that influence daily participation and optimal performance of desired daily life tasks. Anne is grateful for the support of the Division of Occupational Therapy at West Virginia University for allowing a sabbatical to develop this completely revised second edition.The continuing support of her family and colleagues has made it possible for her to continue to grow both personally and professionally.

arrived early so I give this 4 stars , the only reason I took off a star is the quality of the book and it was highlighted inside by another student , also the outer appearance looks used

Brand new book I needed for my class. Way cheaper than it was anywhere else I could find.

This book only has 22 chapters whereas the the paperback has 26. I was not able to complete the readings my professor assigned. There were also blatant typos throughout the book.

Need for college class. Came in on time and as described. Thank you!

This book is not my favorite by a long shot. The concepts are presented in an odd way and the author uses terms like "sitting Indian style" and (though technically still accurate) mental "retardation." I think there are better options out there.

Had to buy this book for school ~ can't believe there isn't an updated version of this book yet. It's very outdated and there should be a better alternative to offer students so they are not studying information from 2005. There was also very little info on mental health which is imperative for OT students. Oh and the price is ridiculous ~ please ~ this book should be worth $20. What a racket! Hopefully your OT program won't make you purchase it.

Simplicity

It has a great Ebook copy and was very useful in my study.
