In my ADN program the teachers compiled their own mini binder books to supply to the class. This would have been a great supplemental book for any level of nursing program (and I have been through them all- LPN, RN, RN-BSN, and now nurse practitioner grad school. I like the larger print, smaller book size, and great diagnostics. However, there are also many great apps that one could buy as a practicing nurse that contain up to date information, so this is worth the money if you do not want to spend a great deal of money every year on an app. Or if your like me, this book would be a great one to keep for your nursing school library.
Thorough. Covers just about all contingencies of diagnoses. I have an older edition. They are almost identical. Boy do I hate it when I'm required to buy the recent edition of a text I already own. The publishers really take advantage of students who least can afford to shell out the $$.
As an NP student, I found the book concise and useful for a quick reference on differential diagnosis. Definitely not exhaustive on disease conditions in the clinical setting but certainly touched on the most common ones. I recommend.
This is a must have for any advanced care practitioner. I'm is great at breaking down different conditions along with signs and symptoms associated with those. The only thing I wish it did a better job at is differential diagnosis for each condition, hence the 4 star instead of 5, otherwise it is a great reference book. It was required for my class but I feel it is a great addition to any practitioners library.
I actually really liked this text for my Advanced Assessment course. I liked how it was broken down by area or body system, and then further broken down my differential diagnosis. The information is organized in a way that makes sense and is super easy to skim to find exactly what you need. I liked this text a lot more than the Jarvis one we used for the first Assessment class I took.
This is a great book, but I wish throughout the book they would not use as many acronyms. Or at least say what they are more frequently. It also needs to have more pictures of what it is talking about. I would not use this alone for a class.
Good textbook, the binding however not so good I bought my book new and the pages fell out.
I had to buy it for NP school and it was pretty useless, I ended up using the other textbook b/c the information in this book was very similar to the other one I had to purchase
